Review of Implant Support for the Distal Extension Removable Partial Dentures
نویسندگان
چکیده
Partially edentulous patients with missing premolars and molars have been conventionally rehabilitated using the free-end removable partial dentures (RPDs). With the advancements in implant dentistry, the benefits of implant-retained/supported mandibular implant overdentures relative to conventional mandibular dentures with bilateral extensions (Class I Kennedy) have now been extensively investigated with well-documented long-term clinical studies. Two prominent advantages of implantretained mandibular dentures are additional prosthetic retention and stability. This review article highlights the numerous factors affecting the retention and stability of RPDs and demonstrates their advantages over conventional mandibular removable dentures.

Implant - supported removable partial denture CLÍNICO | CLINICAL
The absence of lower posterior teeth makes the planning and control of removable partial dentures difficult since support is provided by teeth and mucosa, which present different anatomical characteristics. The planning of removable partial dentures supported on a distal implant renders tooth-implant-supported rather than tooth-mucosa-support dentures an option in distal extension cases. In the...

OBJECTIVE Distal extension removable partial denture is a prosthesis with lack of distal dental support with a 13-fold difference in resiliency between the mucosa and the periodontal ligament, resulting in leverage during compression forces. It may be potentially destructive to the abutments and the surrounding tissues. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of implant location on stres...
متن کاملUse of distal implants to support and increase retention of a removable partial denture: a case report.
Lack of adequate support (tooth/soft tissue) results in displacement of bilateral and unilateral distal extension removable partial dentures. Placement of implants is one option for managing this problem. The aim of this report is to describe fabrication of a mandibular removable partial denture supported by 2 unilateral distal implants with locater attachments. The patient was a 70-year-old ma...

This study was performed to evaluate the effect of using attachment on implant supported distal extension lower partial overdenture. Ten lower kennedy class II partially edentulous patients were selected to receive implant at second molar area, then patients were divided into 2 groups according to the implant superstructures either (dome shaped-or-ball and cap attachment). Patients of both grou...
متن کاملCase Report: Implant-Supported Removable Partial Denture In A Mandibular Kennedy CL II: A Clinical Report
Abstract The implant-supported removable partial dentures should be an alternative to conventional removable partial dentures and implant-supported fixed partial prostheses when the implant’s insertion is confined by bone height and thickness. Placing a single implant in the posterior region would modify the Kennedy Class II configuration to a Kennedy Class III and increase the stability a...
